The First step of becoming is to will it – Mother Teresa
So is my maternal Grandmother( aged 90)! She is what you call ‘the rock’ of our entire family constituting her 8 children, their spouses and her grand and great grand children.
Hailing from an orthodox South Indian family, life from her childhood was not an easy cake walk. Her early marriage to a widower ( my grandfather was a famous achaar ( prohit) in Madurai among our clan),and the subsequent pregnancies and miscarriages made her life even more challenging. Circumstances and situations chiseled her to be a self-made woman. Her key ingredients were- determination, will-power, devotion, optimism, frankness, patience and discipline which created a success formula in bringing her 8 children with the skimpy amount that was earned by my grandfather. With not so rich family circumstance, she was able to fill their heart and soul with positive attitudes, boldness, gratitude and affection. The values which can only be felt through life’s experiences- which she promptly passed on to her generations..
I have never heard of her giving up on anything right from her early stages. It is in fact astonishing that she can keep her head up high and her spirits strong through anything and everything. She has played and is playing various roles in each of our life. A devoted wife, a strict mother, rigid mother-in-law, a wonderful chef, a granny therapist and so goes her roles. Though she looks rigid on outside she is a wonderful soul inside. She doesn’t know to express her love and affection because of the situations and family conditions which was constantly keeping her on wheels 24 *7.
She has taught me rather teaching us her pride qualities by the way she leads her life. Often she says- the most important thing in life is how we feel about people and how they feel about us. If we are accepted for what we are and if we look upon others with respect and understanding, we shall be richer for all the contacts we make!
I have personally gained a lot of contacts from her words. By approaching people with respect and genuine interest, we have come to know many amazing people and with that we have inherited her riches, truly indeed.
I admire her for her strength and independence. Till her late 80’s she was cooking for herself and till now she takes care of herself independently. Assists and helps us in minor household works, keeps her engaged by reading books and magazines! (Off late she has avoided newspapers as they almost carry nuisance!)
She inspires not only me but to her generations to keep going and be successful just as the same way she was.
For every visible leaf and branch, there is a root, a foundation. I want to embrace the fearless determination; love and will-power that my grandma sought to define our Achaar’s family.
Truly my grandma Raji avva as we fondly call her (Rajammal) is #MADEOFGREAT
so this is how my wonderful granny has and is creating that long lasting impression on us- her grandchildren.
Now,what do you think of TATA MOTORS’s association with Lionel Messi?
The #madeofgreat campaign is the first time Tata Motors is undertaking an overall brand association campaign with a brand ambassador. It rides on a strong consumer motivation of ‘Seeking Excellence’ and ‘Self Belief’ which is showcased by the confluence of two global brands-Tata Motors and Lionel Messi. The campaign builds upon Tata Motors’ DNA of trust, authenticity, reliability, simplicity, as well as its commitment to innovation.
Lionel Messi is talent galore with conviction and is an icon for today’s youth. He is a winner who is trustworthy, reliable, pioneering, simple and driven by self-belief, which is what is at the core of Tata Motors as well. Thus, proving to be an ideal fit for the role of Global Brand Ambassador.
